The Lead Hotline

The National Lead Information Center (NLIC) provides the general public and professionals with information about lead, lead hazards and their prevention. The NLIC operates under a contract with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with funding from EPA and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

Call and speak with a specialist Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Eastern time (except federal holidays) at 1 (800) 424-LEAD [5323] or fill out the form on their website to contact them via email.

CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program is dedicated to reducing childhood lead poisoning as a public health problem through strengthening blood lead testing, reporting, and surveillance, linking exposed children to recommended services, and targeted population-based interventions. The EPA has numerous resources from general info on lead to resources on renovation, repair, & painting.
